City Attorney Review: Supporting Documents: Metrolink Service Extension to Redlands(DOCX) Updated: 2/10/2015 by Linda Sutherland A Packet Pg.46 Mal RESOLUTION NO. 1 2 RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF y SAN BERNARDINO SUPPORTING THE REDLANDS PASSENGER RAIL 3 PROJECT, EXTENDING METROLINK SERVICE FROM SAN BERNARDINO TO REDLANDS 4 0 0 5 WHEREAS, east-west transportation corridors, between San Bernardino and Redlands, R L c 6 suffer significantly from traffic congestion; and m c 7 1° WHEREAS, currently, there are no opportunities for direct transit service between San n g o w 9 Bernardino and Redlands; and U 10 WHEREAS, there are physical barriers in the form of the Interstate 10 freeway and in c 11 the Santa Ana River which contribute significantly to traffic congesting in the absence of o d 12 direct transit opportunities; and rn 13 M WHEREAS, the Redlands Passenger Rail Project will extend Metrolink direct transit 14 W 15 service nine (9)miles from San Bernardino to Redlands; and ti 16 WHEREAS, the Redlands Passenger Rail Project is part of the County of San c 17 Bernardino Measure"1"2010-2040 Strategic Plan and 10-Year Delivery Plan; and d 18 WHEREAS, the anticipated benefits of the Redlands Passenger Rail Project include, o 19 0 but are not limited to, the creation of a reliable transportation alternative, providing U) 20 X 21 connectivity to regional transit agencies, improving air quality and supporting much needed W 22 private investment. N Y 23 NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND COMMON S 0 24 COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN BERNARDINO AS FOLLOWS: 25 d E 26 SECTION 1.
