Vernon Avenue. (#3634) Current Business Registration Certificate: Not Applicable Financial Impact: None. Motion: Adopt the Resolution. Synopsis of Previous Council Action: None. Background: San Bernardino Valley College (SBVC) has been performing major upgrades to buildings on campus over the past ten years. The current construction improvement project includes demolition and relocation of the gymnasium building. Prior to construction of the new gymnasium building, approximately 1,000 feet of 12" ductile iron pipe must be abandoned to accommodate the proposed building footprint. Therefore, a replacement water main will be constructed adjacent to the new gymnasium to maintain a looped system and appropriate fire protection on campus. SBVC is requesting to have the City quitclaim a portion of the existing easement for the 1,000 feet of pipeline being abandoned. In exchange SBVC will dedicate a new water pipeline easement to the City for the proposed location of the new pipeline. SBVC has provided staff with an executed easement document for acceptance and recordation once this item is approved. The attached resolution authorizes the Mayor to execute the quitclaim to San Bernardino Community College District. SBVC will be responsible to pay for all recording fees, if any. VERNON W AVENUE (EPN 2001-049) W DATE: October 29,2014 COPIES: Greg Gage (w/o attach), Sydney Morrison (w/originals), Sally Duran (w/attach) E BACKGROUND: r San Bernardino Valley College (SBVC) has been performing major upgrades to buildings on campus N over the past ten years. The current construction improvement project includes demolition and relocation of the gymnasium building. Prior to construction of the new gymnasium building, approximately 1,000 feet of 12" ductile iron pipe must be abandoned to accommodate the proposed building foot print. Therefore, a replacement water main will be constructed adjacent to the new M gymnasium to maintain a looped system and appropriate fire protection on campus. SBVC is N required to quitclaim a portion of the existing easement for the 1,000 foot of pipeline being abandoned. In addition to the quitclaim, SBVC will provide the Department with an easement for the proposed location of the new pipeline. The easement documents referenced above are required prior to entering into a Developer-Installed Agreement with the Department. 0 m SBVC has provided the Department with a quitclaim deed and an easement document for 0; execution. Engineering staff and the City's Real Property section have reviewed these documents and found them to be acceptable for recordation. c a� RECOMMENDATION: U r It is recommended that the Board of Water Commissioners consider the following motion for Q approval: Approve the Quitclaim Deed to San Bernardino Valley College and authorize the Secretary to submit the easement documents to the Mayor and Common Council for approval and recordation, and accept the Grant of Easement from 0 San Bernardino Valley College within the property known as APN 0141-101-01 and authorize the Secretary to submit the easement documents to the City Clerk for signature and recordation.
