Background:
Omnitrans is proposing to install a bus turn-out along the north side of Nunez Park,
located along the south side of 5th Street, between Medical Center Drive and Tiajuana
Street. To accomplish this, they have requested the City to set aside the portion of the
park needed for the appurtenant street improvements for public street and highway
purposes.
Omnitrans will install all improvements, which also include the relocation of any affected
landscape irrigation, at no cost to the City. Additionally, Omnitrans will also install a
sidewalk between Medical Center Drive and Gardena Street, which will be in existing
State Highway right-of-way. The Parks, Recreation & Community Services Department
has indicated that they do not have any conflicts with the proposed improvements.
The area to be set aside for public street and highway purposes is a strip of land,
177.05 feet in length and 18 feet wide (3,187 square feet), as shown on the plat
attached as Exhibit "B" to the attached Resolution. The attached Resolution sets aside
this portion of the park for public street and highway purposes. After installation of all
improvements and acceptance by the City, the Resolution, if approved, will be filed with
the County Recorder's Office.
