CITY OF SAN BERF" 1RDINO - REQUEST ' IR COUNCIL ACTION STAFF REPORT A continuous left turn lane has been installed on Sierra Way, between Base Line Street and Highland Avenue. This action eliminated the need for the peak hour "No Parking" restriction. Therefore, it was recommended that this restriction be eliminated. At the Council meeting of 9-21-92, a resident of this area raised some concerns regarding the recommended changes. The Mayor and Council referred this item to the Traffic Safety Com- mittee for further consideration. Contact was made with the residents whose complaints prompted the installation of the two-way left turn lane. They concurred with the Committee ' s recommendation to install the left turn lane and remove the parking restrictions. They believe that this action has made the street safer to drive. Contact was also made with Omnitrans. They had no concerns with either the continuous left-turn lane, or the proposed removal of the parking restrictions. The Traffic Safety Committee, at their meeting of 10-14- 92 , considered this issue. After considering the residents ' concerns, they took action to reaffirm their previous recommendation to install a continuous left-turn lane and to remove the peak hour parking prohibitions. We recommend that the parking restrictions be deleted. 10-15-92 75-0264 40TH ST NORTH PARKDALE DR MARSHALL BL CROSSTOWN FWY Q r rr W -" HIGHLAND AV EXISTING NO PARKING 4-Ei pM (EAST SIDE) PROPOSED 16TH s- AREA OF EXISTING NO RESTRICTION PARKING 7- 9A.M.
