Recommended motion:
That the plans for installation of guardrail on Palm Avenue, at City Creek,
in accordance with Plan No. 9004, be approved; and the Director of Public Works/
City Engineer be authorized to advertise for bids.

STAFF REPORT
Plans for installation of guardrail on Palm Avenue, at City
Creek, have been prepared by., the Engineering Division, and the
project is ready to be advertised for bids. The project consists,
in general, of installing wing walls, bridge barrier rails, and
metal beam guardrails along the approach roadways.
Below is an estimate of the total project cost:
Construction Contract $159, 373
Preliminary Engineering (W.O. #1895) $ 10, 000
Construction Engineering (W.O. #1894) $ 10, 000
Sub-total $ 179,373
Contingencies (15%)=/- $ 26, 627
TOTAL ESTIMATED PROJECT COST $206,000
Federal-aid Hazard Elimination Safety (HES) have been approved
to finance 90% of the total project cost. The 10% local agency
share will be borne equally by the City of Redlands and City of San
Bernardino, since the joint city limits line is the centerline of
Palm Avenue. All costs will be charged to the $200, 000 allocated
under Account No. 242-362-57310 in the Street Construction Fund.
We recommend that the plans be approved and authorization be
granted to advertise for bids.
