Description) Finance- Council Notes: -- ---- A..---A.. l K1_ 37 CITY OF SAN BER RDINO - REQUEST r- 7R COUNCIL ACTION STAFF REPORT The Ways and Means Committee at its Wednesday, July 28, 1993 meeting, approved the Fine Arts Commission's request for funding in the amount of $1,200 for "A Workshop for the Arts", to be held on Saturday, October 2, 1993 at the Radisson Hotel. The Fine Arts Commission of the City of San Bernardino will present this workshop in order to provide the non-profit arts organizations the opportunity to gain skills in fund raising grant writing and membership retention. The purpose of this intended workshop is also to encourage the arts organizations to help themselves to increase their revenue through sources other than City funding. The Fine Arts Commission of San Bernardino wants to be of assistance to arts organizations in San Bernardino—beyond the role of granting city funds to the arts. In these times of reduced resources. arts organizations must discover ways to lessen dependence upon the city and to utilize their own strengths in raising funds and building a strong volunteer network.
