Synopsis of Previous Council action:
07--06--92 Report by Energy Control & Concepts received and filed,
Director of Public Works/City Engineer directed to have
the plans prepared, and Cit17 Administrator instructed
to develop a resolution to borrow $148 , 000 from Sewer
Line Construction Fund.
06-07--93 Resolution No. 93-182 adopted authorizing a loan from
the Sewer Line Construction Fund, in the amount of
$187 , 000 .
Recommended motion:
That the plans for retrofitting the lighting in City Hall , in
accordance with Plan No. 8987 , be approved; and the Director
of Public Works/City Engineer be directed to advertise for
bids .

STAFF REPORT
Plans for retrofitting the lighting in City Hall have
been prepared by a Consulting Engineering firm, and the project
is ready to be advertised for bids The project consists , in
general , of replacing the ballasts and tubes in the florescent
lighting fixtures , in order to achieve savings in electrical
energy. It is estimated that the cost incurred for this retro-
fit will be recovered within 36 months . Motion and infrared
sensors will be provided to turn the lights on and off.
Below is an estimate of the total project cost:
Construction Contract $ 117 , 000
Consultant' s Design Fee 9 , 300
Contract Admiminstration & Insp (W. O. # ) 5, 000
Sub--Total $ 131 , 300
Contingencies (15%) ± 19 ,700
TOTAL ESTIMATED PROJECT COST $ 151, 000
The Southern California Edison Company has a rebate
program that this project will be eligible for.
All costs incurred for this project will be charged to
Account No. 001- 3.2-5-�34s0 . An amount of $148 000 has been loaned
to this account from the Sewer Line Construction Fund.
We recommend that the plans be approved and authorization
granted to advertise for bids .
