These are funds which assist the department in offsetting some of the costs associated with staffing, utilities and repair costs for furnishing the facility. v-�20-96 Agenda Item No. W CITY OF SAN BERNARDINO - REQUEST FOR COUNCIL ACTION STAFF REPORT REQUEST FOR WAIVER OF FEES IN THE AMOUNT OF $590 FOR USE OF PERRIS HILL PARK BY THE SAN BERNARDINO CITY FIREFIGHTERS MUSTER TEAM. The San Bernardino City Firefighters Muster Team is sponsoring a special fund raising event at Perris Hill Park. The fee for use of the facilities and equipment for this event is $590. The Firefighters Muster has requested that the fees be waived. (Please see the attached letter from Tom Rubio, Muster Team Chairman). Resolution No. 94-66 allows the Mayor and the Common Council to exempt non-profit corporations and associations organized primarily for patriotic, civic betterment or charitable purposes from the rates and fee schedules for use of parks and recreation facilities, services and equipment under the condition that paying the fees would create a hardship and if the event is of unusual benefit to the citizens of San Bernaridno. The San Bernardino City Firefighters Muster Team is a non-profit organization. The planned event will raise funds for the San Bernardino County Children's Burn Ward. The funds are used for children and their families to attend a special camp for child burn care patients which is held each year in San Diego. Therefore, they do meet the qualification for having the fees for the use of facilities and equipment waived in the interest of providing a positive activity to raise funds to support families in our community. firefightersMuster-u 4/25/96 v I !` � / � SAN BERNARDINO CITY FIREFIGHTERS MUSTER TEAM To: San Bernardino Parks and Recreation April 25,1996 From: Tom Rubio Muster Team Chairman Saturday June 15,1996 The San Bernardino City Firefighters Muster will be held at Perris Hill Park from 8 A.M. to 5 P.M. It is our third Muster, and like the others it raises money for the San Bernardino County Childrens' Burn Ward each year. The money raised goes into a fund that enables these children and their families to attend a special camp for child burn care patients in San Diego each year. This event depends on donations and sponsorships. Operating costs are covered by sponsorships from local businesses and merchants. However, these funds are allotted for: Deposits for soft drink stand Trophies for events Advertising/Pro motions One day liquor license The Firefighters are requesting that all Park use fees and deposits be waved. The waiver of Park fees and deposits will be a tremendous donation from the City. The Firefighters Muster is an event that has such big impact on all that attend, and most importantly the children it benefits each year.
