low bid price of $28 , 137 . 95 .
Recommended motion:
That Change Order No. 1 , to the contract with Holland--Lowe
Construction, Inc. for the rehabilitation of the parking lot at
Palm Meadows Golf Course , in accordance with Plan No. 9433 , be
approved; to authorize the installation of about 600 lineal feet of
4-inch sewer line, from the clubhouse to Palm Meadows Drive, at an
increase in the contract price of $5 , 412 . 00 , from $28 , 137 . 95 to
$33 , 549 . 95 .

CITY OF SAN BERNARDINO - REQUEST FOR COUNCIL ACTION
STAFF REPORT
Funds have recently been approved to finance the install-
ation of a sewer main in Palm Meadows Drive, and about 600 feet
of 4-inch lateral to serve the golf course clubhouse. This sewer
lateral will traverse the parking lot for the clubhouse.
A contract was awarded to Holland-Lowe Construction, Inc.
on 4-15-96 , for resurfacing this parking lot. The sewer lateral
should be installed prior to the resurfacing, in order to avoid
cutting the new pavement.
Holland-Lowe Construction, Inc. was accordingly asked to
provide a price quote for installing the sewer lateral. The
price quoted is $9 . 02 per foot, for a total estimated cost of
$5 ,412 for this extra work. We have reviewed this price quote
and determined that it is fair and reasonable for the work in-
volved.
All costs incurred for installing this sewer lateral will
be charged to Account No. 242-362-5504-1993 , and billed to the
grant from the Federal Economic Development Administration (750)
and Inland Valley Development Agency (250) .
No City funds will be used to finance any portion of this
extra work.
We recommend that Change Order No. One be approved.
URGENCY CLAUSE:
It is necessary to have Change Order No. One approved at the
Council Meeting of 5-06-96 , in order to have the sewer lateral
installed prior to the parking lot being re-surfaced.

You are hereby compensated for performing the extra work as
directed by the Resident Engineer, as follows:
Installation of 600 lineal feet of 4-inch sewer line, from the
west side of the Golf Course Clubhouse to the north side of Palm
Meadows Drive, at a cost of $ 9. 02 per lineal foot, for a total
cost of $ 5,412 . 00.
