Recommended Motion:
1 . That the Finance Director be instructed to transfer $347,525 .00 from the
General Reserve to the following City Attorney budget accounts:
Litigation-Outside Attorney (001-051-5-3049) -$279 ,425 .00 and Litigation
(001-051-5-3050) - $68 , 100 .00 to fund all outstanding services as of
October 16 , 1995, and services through June 30 , 1996 .
*Per bill received March 14 , 1996 .

STAFF REPORT
As reported to the Council in detail in Closed Session on March 18, 1996, primarily due to
the cases of Samaan v. City of San Bernardino in Federal Court and County of San Bernardino, et
al. v. City of San Bernardino, et al., in the Supreme Court of the State of California, additional
funds are necessary to pay existing bills for litigation and to pay litigation costs for the remainder
of the fiscal year 1995/1996.
We have determined that an additional $347,525.00 is necessary to meet the financial
obligations associated with litigation involving outside counsel and associated litigation costs for
the remainder of this fiscal year.
The amount of$279,425.00 should be allocated to Litigation-Outside Attorney(001-051-
5-3049) and $68,100.00 should be allocated to Litigation (001-051-5-3050).
