STAFF REPORT
Bids for furnishing and delivering traffic striping
paint, in various colors, and thinners; were opened on 8-07-97 .
A total of two (2) bids were received, as listed below:

Morton Traffic Los Angeles 50 , 622 . 83
Markings
Funds to finance the cost for purchasing these materials
throughout the fiscal year will be financed from the $156 , 700 . 00
allocated in the 1996/97 Budget, under Account No. 001-307-5111 ,
"Materials and Supplies . "
The bid from Vista Paint Corp was withdrawn, after the
sample furnished to a testing laboratory failed to meet the
specifications.
Morton Traffic Markings is a well established firm, and
we have used their products in the past with good success.
Therefore, we recommend that the low bid from Vista Paint
Corp be rejected, and the Purchasing Agent authorized to issue an
annual purchase order to Morton Traffic Markings, for the second
low bid price of $50 , 622 . 83 .
These bids will expire on 10-06-97 , which is 60 days
after they were opened.
