Thank you BD/dp attachment POSITION JUSTIFICATIONS The following are justifications for appointments, promotions and other personnel actions to be reviewed by the Mayor and Common Council at the October 6, 1997, Council meeting. CLASSIFIED GENERAL FUND 1. Equipment Maintenance Supervisor (Johnson, Donald W.) - Promotion PUBLIC SERVICES A reorganization of the Fleet Division was approved during the FY 1997-98 budget deliberations. The reorganization included the elimination of two (2) Equipment Mechanic Supervisor positions and the addition of one (1) Equipment Mechanic Supervisor position resulting in a net savings of $51,400. 2. Code Compliance Officer II (Beets, Joseph) - Promotion CODE COMPLIANCE This position will assist in the Code Compliance-Division's efforts to reduce blight, by ensuring compliance with City codes and ordinances; investigating complaints; and, working with citizens to gain cooperation in code compliance issues. Mr. Beels will fill a vacancy which became open on September 5, 1997. REFUSE FUND 39. Typist Clerk II (Gauthier, Stephen A.) - Appointment PUBLIC SERVICES This position is assigned to the Residential Refuse Customer Service section, which handles approximately 1,200 phone calls for service each month. Additionally, this position is responsible for recording addresses of sites causing contamination of recycling containers and following up with these customers. Doug Chandler, Chief Examiner Subject: Code Compliance Officer II Recruitment Date: October 6, 1997 Copies: Fred Wilson, City Administrator Concerning the above recruitment, the individual in question is on both the Code Compliance Officer I and Code Compliance Officer II promotional lists. According to Civil Service Rule 305, the individual meets the Minimum Qualifications for both positions; he was placed on the Code Compliance Officer I list on October 10, 1996 and the Code Compliance Officer II list on August 28, 1997. He will be filling a position vacated on September 5, 1997. The recruitment for the Code Compliance_ Officer II was Open to the public and Promotional for City Employees. . The Minimum Qualifications for the Code Compliance Officer II do not state that the incumbent serve any time as a Code Compliance Officer I before being promoted to the II level.
