Description) Finance: Council Notes: IaJ�slq� 75-0262 Agenda Item No. 3 i STAFF REPORT i On January 17, 1998, the Boy Scouts of America will conduct their 4th Annual Martin Luther King, Jr. Parade . The theme for this year is Youth, The Future of our Nation. The organization is requesting a waiver of all city fees for j personnel and equipment for this event . The Mayor has denied the request and, therefore, it is being placed on the Agenda for consideration by the Mayor and Common Council . The letter containing the request was received by the Mayor' s Office on December 8, 1997 . There has not been sufficient time for affected city departments to do cost estimates and forward that information to the City Administrator' s Office for preparation of this agenda item. Therefore, below is a recap of the figures from last year' s parade, which the organization indicates is identical to this year' s in scope and route. Police sworn and non-sworn personnel costs to process the application, man the parade route and provide safe conduct for the event was $594 . 65 . The Public Services Department estimated street/refuse personnel to provide street sweeping and trash collection to be $423 . 27 . Total cost to the city was estimated at $1, 017 . 92 . MI�L A WR411 LT I .r C I T Y OF S A N B E R N A R D I N O CITY ADMINISTRATOR'S OFFICE INTEROFFICE MEMORANDUM TO: The Honorable Mayor and Common Council FROM: Fred Wilson, City Administrator SUBJECT: Martin Luther Ring Day Parade 1998 Costs DATE: December 11, 1997 COPIES: The Police and Public Services departments have submitted their costs for use of equipment and personnel to assist the Boy Scouts of America with the conduct of their January 17, 1998 Fourth Annual Martin Luther Ring Day parade. They are less than last year's estimate which are the figures noted in the staff report dated December 9 and included in your agenda material, as this year' s estimate was not available by agenda deadline. Personnel/Equipment Costs _ Police Public Services s- -zn-_ 1997 � $594.65 $423 .27 1998 $524.18 $237 .75 As noted, there is a decrease in costs from both departments of $70 .47 for Police and $185 .52 for Public Services.
