Synopsis of Previous Council Action:
11/4/96 - Mayor and Common Council/Community Development Commission approved the 1996
schedule for regular meetings of the Mayor and Common Council/Community Development
Commission.
11/7/94 - Mayor and Common Council/Community Development Commission approved the 1995
schedule for regular meetings of the Mayor and Common Council/Community Development
Commission.
11/15/93 - Mayor and Common Council approved changing the Council meetings dates for the
month of January 1994 to the second and fourth Monday (January 10 and January 24, 1994).
Recommended Motion:
That the Mayor and Common Council/Community Development Commission approve the
following dates for regular meetings of the Mayor and Common Council and the Community
Development Commission for 1998: January 12 (second Monday); January 26 (fourth Monday);
February 2 and 16; March 2 and 16; April 6 and 20; May 4 and 18; June 1 and 15; July 6 and 20;
August 3 and 17; September 8 and 21; October 5 and 19;November 2 and 16; December 7 and 21.

RE: Mayor and Common Council/Community Development Commission regular
meetings dates for 1998
This is a request to have the Mayor and Common Council and the Community Development
Commission approve the following Council/Commission regular meeting dates for 1998: January
12 (second Monday); January 26 (fourth Monday); February 2 and 16; March 2 and 16; April 6
and 20; May 4 and 18; June 1 and 15; July 6 and 20; August 3 and 17; September 8 and 21;
October 5 and 19;November 2 and 16; and December 7 and 21.
Except for the meetings noted in January, all other regular Council/Commission meetings for 1998
will take place on the first and third Mondays of each month. Due to the anticipated City Hall
closure and conflicts with meeting agenda deadlines due to the holidays, it is proposed that
Council/Commission meetings in January be held on the second and fourth Mondays of the month
(January 12 and 26), rather than the first and third Mondays. If approved, this change will result in
having back-to-back meetings the last Monday in January and the first Monday in February.
With the Mayor and Common Council's approval of a year-long schedule of regular meeting dates,
it will make it easier for all concerned to be aware of the schedule in order to provide them with as
much advance notice of deadlines for submitting agenda items for the entire calendar year.
RECOMMENDED MOTION:
That the Mayor and Common Council and the Community Development Commission approve the
following dates for regular meetings for 1998 of the Mayor and Common Council/Community
Development Commission: January 12 and 26; February 2 and 16; March 2 and 16; April 6 and
20; May 4 and 18; June 1 and 15; July 6 and 20; August 3 and 17; September 8 and 21; October 5
and 19;November 2 and 16; December 7 and 21.
