We had a conversation about this back in February and now the homes are being sold and residents starting to move out. You had been in contact with Ted Reiff, from The Reuse People and Olivia Sanchez with the County and said you were supportive of this idea and that it was just a matter of logistics and getting approval to waive the union wage issue. I have spoken with Ted Reiff and he indicated that the wage issue can be gotten around by using the California Conservation Corps (CCC). He said that, if I meet with you, he would try to also have a representative of the CCC come to the meeting. Since both the City and County of San Bernardino are supposedly "Green," [From the County web site: "The Board of Supervisors has adopted a series of measures to help residents, busiMesses, and the county itself reduce greenhouse gas emissions, reduce waste, and make better use of natural resources."] I think it would be in the interest of the community to reuse these building materials. Please let me know your availability next week, as that is when I will be in town. Comparison between Deconstruction and Demolition Now for the disclaimers. Figures vary depending on location, age and condition of the home and materials, topography, type of siding and interior walls, distance from TRP, landfill rates, etc. Still, the economics almost always favor TRP deconstruction over demolition. To calculate the economic benefits of deconstruction for your project take a look at this worksheet. In our efforts to expand our business, we are constantly looking for alliances with other contractors, particularly medium to large, mechanical demolition contractors and resellers of used building materials. HOW WE STARTED We started in April, 1993 with a drive for building materials to help the flood victims in Tijuana,Mexico. The drive, Project Valle Verde, was planned and coordinated with the mayors of Tijuana and San Diego, the San Diego Chamber of Commerce, the County Board of Supervisors, San Diego Gas and Electric Company, Waste Management, and the Building Industry Association. On April 23 and 24, contractors, other private companies, public agencies and the citizens of San Diego donated over 400 tons of building materials valued at $1.2 million.Twenty- seven tractor trailers crossed the border carrying this material in an unprecedented demonstration of bi- national cooperation and assistance. httn://www.thereuseDeoDle.orL/AboutUs/ 8/1/2008 neighbor. . invited. pin "TIO' nAL NN A I Ujft 0 M a T N OUT I 0PNAR pjti0 199E seACC ponsored by Target himz PR OF COMA r When: Tuesday, August 5, 2008 Time: 4:00 p.m. — 8:00 p.m. A Where: Perris Hill Park a 0 900 E.
