The Development Code permits cellular antennas in all land use designations, with a maximum height of 75 feet. The Development Code requires that the antennae be sited to ensure compatibility with the surrounding area, but there are no criteria for determining compatibility. Staff believes that the standards can be better defined and measurable criteria included for siting and design of cellular antennas. This would decrease impacts to areas where the antennas are located, while still providing opportunities for the cell antennae companies FINANCIAL IMPACT Staff estimates that preparation of a Development Code Amendment will cost approximately$2000. This includes legal advertisements and copying charges. RECOMMENDATION Staff recommends that the Mayor and Common Council direct staff to initiate an amendment to the Development Code to incorporate siting and design standards for cellular antennas.
