Description) Finance: Council Notes: 75-0262 Agenda Item No._H...I_- " " '-'" ......,. CITY OF SAN BERNARDINO - REQUEST FOR COUNCIL ACTION STAFF REPORT Roger Hardgrave, Director of Public Works/City Engineer, has requested that the Associate Traffic Engineer replace the existing vacant Assistant Traffic Engineer position. The new job would require an additional year of experience in traffic or transportation engineering and the new task of overseeing the work of the maintenance supervisors. After surveying several comparable cities and bearing in mind internal relationships, we determined that Range 2149 $3011-$4052/mo. was the appropriate salary level. This proposed change would provide stability to the Traffic Engineering Section since we have been unable to retain a qualified incumbent for any length of time at the existing level of Assistant Traffic Engineer. The salary is recom- mended at 10% above Assistant Traffic Engineer. The recom- mended salary would keep the Traffic Engineer 23% above the Associate Traffic Engineer. The Council Personnel Committee reviewed this item at their October 5, 1989 meeting and recommended approval by the full council. PD:416A 10/26/89 75-0264
