RESOLUTION NO.
RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
SAN BBRNARDINO ESTABLISHING A REWARD OF $1,000 FOR INFORMATION
LEADING TO THE ARREST AND CONVICTION OF ANY PERSON FOR WILLFULLY
DEFACING OR PUTTING GRAFFITI ON PUBLIC OR PRIVATE BUILDINGS OR
PROPERTY.
WHEREAS, the willful defacing and/or application of
graffiti on public and private buildings or property is
increasing each year and results in subs~an~ial cos~s to the
public, businesses, landlords and priva~e property owners, and
WHEREAS, the willful defacing and/or applica~ion of
graffi~i on public and private buildings on proper~y lowers
proper~y values, discourages Clean-up effor~s, lessens communi~
pride, reflec~s and a~~rac~s gangs and gang ac~ivi~y, and
encourages further defacing and graffi~i; and
WHEREAS, such defacing and graffiti frus~ra~es the City's
effor~s at making the Ci~y a better place to live and work
~hrough code enforcemen~ and other related programs,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Mayor and Common
Council of the Ci~y of San Bernardino as follows:
SECTION 1.
The City hereby offers a reward of $1,000 to
anyone providing information leading to the arrest and conviction
of any person for willfully defacing or putting graffiti on
public or private buildings or property.
SECTION 2.
If the reward is payable to two or more
persons, it shall be divided equally between such persons.
SECTION 3.
Any person convic~ed for defacing or putting
graffiti on public or private buildings or property shall be
liable for the amount of any reward paid pursuant to this

7 I HEREBY CERTI FY that the foregoing resolution was duly
8 adopted by the Mayor and Common Council of the City of San
9 Bernardino at a meeting thereof, held on the
