DeFratis, Chief Examiner~ FROM: SUBJECT: Progress Report on civil Service Rules Review DATE: August 11, 1988 (7529) COPIES: ------------------------------------------------------------- The civil Service Board chairperson has established a commit- tee to study civil service Board rules to more clearly define the roles and responsibilities of the Chief Examiner and the Director of Personnel in the area of recruitment and selec- tion. It's goal will focus on efficiency while still main- taining the civil Service merit system. I expect this to be a long process as many factors must be considered, i.e. the charter, meet and confer issues, legal aspects, as well as equal opportunity and affirmative action concepts. The first meeting of this committee has been set for August 23, 1988, and I will be providing periodic pro- gress reports of that committee as necessary to keep your body informed. ~ 14=-1 BIGHLIGB'l' or PROPOSED D RUG S C R E E N I N G PROGRAM 1.
