Synopsis of Previous Council action:
On June 20, 1988, the City Attorney was directed to prepare the
attached amendment to Chapter 3 of the Municipal Code, Section
3.16.050.

3 ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF SAN BERNARDINO AMENDING SECTION
3.16.050 OF THE SAN BERNARDINO MUNICIPAL CODE RELATING TO POWER
4 OF CITY ADMINISTRATOR AND ADDING SECTION 3.16.060 RELATING TO
CLAIMS REVIEW COMMITTEE AND SECTION 3.16.070 RELATING TO
5 FUNCTION OF CLAIMS REVIEW COMMITTEE.
6 THE MAYOR AND COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN BERNARDINO DO
ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:

SECTION 1. SECTION 3.16.050 of the San Bernardino
Municipal Code is amended to read as follows:
"3.16.050 Power of City Administrator.
The City Administrator or his authorized representative
shall perform each function of the Mayor and Common Council under
this chapter and under Government Code, Title 1, Division 3.6,
Part 3 (Section 900, et seq), any amendments thereto or other
related provisions of law, which relate to any claim, except that

he shall not allow, compromise, or settle any claim against the

City if the amount to be paid pursuant to such allowance,
compromise, or settlement exceeds ten thousand dollars

SECTION 2. Section 3.16.060 is added to the San Bernardino
Municipal Code as follows:
"Section 3.16.060. Claims Review Committee.
There shall be a Claims Review Committee established
consisting of the City Attorney, City Administrator and the
Director of Risk Management."

SECTION 3. Section 3.16.070 is added to the San Bernardino

Municipal Code as follows:
"Section 3.16.070. Function of Claims Review Committee.
The Claims Review Committee's function is to review, and

2 approve, by unanimous vote, all settlements above Ten Thousand
3 Dollars ($10,000.00), but not exceeding Twenty Thousand
4 ($20,000.00)."

7 Bernardino at a meeting thereof, held on the
