rehab of County AgrIculture Bldg. for temporary occupancy of YWCA.

On March 7, 1988, the Mayor and Common Council and the Community Development
Commission approved a 50-year lease which was to be retroactive January 1,
1976 to December 31,2025 for the YWCA facility. Correspondence dated April
19, 1988 from the YWCA expressed concerns over the terms of the lease and
Indicated they were reluctant to sign. Staff reported to the Redevelopment
Committee on May 5, 1988, who in turn referred the matter to the YWCA
Committee.
A meeting was held on August 29, 1988 with representatives of the YWCA, the
YWCA Ad Hoc Committee, City and Redevelopment Agency staff. It was
recommended by those in attendance to proceed with the sale of the building.
They referred the determination of the price and terms to the Ways & Means
Committee meeting of September 12, 1988. Due to the unavailability of
documentation supporting the Issue, the Ways & Means Committee did not discuss
the YWCA on September 12, 1988.
It is recommended to continue the Public Hearing to October 3, 1988 to allow
for the determination of the prIce and preparation of the agreement.
