OF SAN BERNARDI 0 - REQUI' T FOR COUNCIL AC'" 'ON STAFF REPORT City staff has completed an audit of the parking citations on file and found a total of 426 unpaid parking citations ($12,804) that have been issued to out of state registered vehicles since July 1986. We are unable to obtain the name and address of the owners of these vehicles. There are also seventy-two (72) parking citations ($2,246) that two or more attempts have been made to obtain the names and address of registered owners, however, DMV has been unable to provide this information. It is requested that we be authorized to purge our files of these outstanding delinquent parking citations and write off the amount of bail and penalties in the amount of $15,050. Reference Attached proposed resolution (Attachment #1). August, 1986 authority was given by the Mayor and Common Council to write off 1615 uncollectable parking citations and $44,056, reference Resolution No. 86-326 (Attachment #2). 75-0264 1 2 RESOLUTION NO. 3 RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF SAN BERNARDINO AUTHORIZING THE SUPERINTENDENT OF PUBLIC BUILDINGS/PARKING CONTROL TO CANCEL 4 CERTAIN UNCOLLECTIBLE PARKING CITATIONS. 5 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND COMMON COUNCIL OF THE 6 CITY OF SAN BERNARDINO AS FOLLOWS: 7 SECTION 1. Recitals. 8 WHEREAS, the Public Buildings/Parking Control Division is 9 currently purging its files of all uncollectible delinquent 10 parking citations; and, 11 WHEREAS, citations have been issued to four hundred and 12 twenty-six (426) out-of-state registered vehicles, and seventy- 13 two (72) vehicles for which the California registration is 14 unascertainable from the California Department of Motor Vehicles; 16 15 all of which citations have been determined to be uncollectible. . 17 SECTION 2. Authorization to Cancel.
