AN ORDINANCE MlENDING ORDINANCE NO. 94 OF THE CITY OF SAN
BERNARDINO. ENTITL};D "AN ORDINANCE TO CLEAR T1ffi SIDEWALKS
WITHIN THE CITY OF SAN BERNARDINO FROM GRASS AND WEEDS",
ADOPTED ON THE 23rd DAY OF JUUE, 1891.

The Mayor and Comrnon Council of the City of San Bernardino,
do ordain as follows:
Section 1.
Section 4 of said Ordinance No. 94. entitled:
"An ordinance to clear the sidewalks wi'thin the City of San
Bernardino from grass and weeds". adopted on the 23rd day o't
June, 1891, is hereby amended so as to read as follows:

"Section 4. It is hereby made the duty of the Superintend-
ent of Streets 01 said City to ,require the owner, agent, or occu-
pant of said lot or premises, after notice so to do, to clear the
sidewalk or apace between the property line and the curb line,
fronting on such lot or premises, from all grass, weeds, or com-
bustible material thereon; said notice shall be in writing and
shall be delivered to said owner, agent. or occupant of said pre-
mises, personally, or conspicuously posted in a conspicuous place
on such lot or p~emiBes, and if such owner, occupant. or agent,
shall neglect so to do for ^f~-~) 'hn']~s after such notice,
then said Superintendent of 8treete shall cause said sidewalk or
space between the property line and curb line to be cleared immed-
iately and the expense of such clearing, together with a penalty
of twenty-five(25%) per cent of the expense of such clearing, s~ll
be chargeable against such owner, occupant, or agent, and shall be
a lien on said lot or premises. provided the total amount of such
penalty shall in no case exceed the sum of five (.5.00) dollars.

Section 2.
This ordinance shall take effect and be
in force from and after thirty days after its passage and
approval.
Section 3.
The City Clerk shall certify to the pass-
age of this ordinance and caUse the same to be published for
three consecutive days in The Evening Index.
I hereby certify that the foregoing ordinance waS
adopted by the ~fayor and Cornmon Council of the Ci ty of San
Bernardino, at :L ts meeting held on the::; t, day of August, 1912.
