PROVIDING FOR THE ISSUANCE OF PERMITS FOR THE CONSTRUCTION THEREOF. AND RE~UIRING EO}IDS FROM PF~~SONS CONSTRUCTING SUCH SIDEWAIKS AND CURBS", ADOPTED AND APPROVED ON THE ~th DAY OF JANUARY, 1908. ........ The Mayor and Common Council of the City of San Bernardino do ordain as follows: Sec. 1. Ordinance No. 368 of the City of San Bernardino entitled "An Ordinance Regulating the Construction of Cement Side- walks and Curbs Within the City of San Bernardino, Providing for the Issuance of Per.mits for the Construction Thereof, and Requiring of Bonds from Persons Constructing such Sidewalks and Curbs", adopted and approved on the 6th day of January. 1908,- is hereby amended by adding thereto a new Section, which shall be known as Sec. 6*, and shall read as follows: :-'\' t "Sec. st. Provided any owner or the agent of any owner of property in front of which any sidewalk or curb shall hereafter be constructed, shall have the right to be appointed the inspector I of such work in the manner following: Such owner or the agent bf such owner shall file with the Superintendent of Streets of said City, an application in writing for a permit to construct a side- walk or vurb, or both. together with hi~ application for .the appoin t ment of himself or of such other person as he shall designate ~ said Rpplication as inspector. Said application shall clearly describe the location of the property in front of which the work is to be done, the length of the sidewalk and curb to be constructed and shall contain a clear waiver of all right to claim from the City of San Bernardino any compensation for his services as such inspector, and such applicant shall assume all responsibility for the proper construction of said sidewalk or curb, or both. and the cost and expense of clearing the street and parking of earth _..'__ ._.l"_.,___~_~"""'-_'"'-----~-'-"'~--"'-"-" ------"''"-- ~ " ..., ,';', ~,(~",~;li.iiil ~ 1;, ~ ...--.---.."-.-..--------- and dabris resulting from said work. The Superintendent of Streets shall, without cost or expense to such applicant, issue such permit in the manner and form hereinbefore set forth, and upon the completion of the said work, and the clearlng of the street and parking of the earth and debri~ resulting therefrom, the inspector so app~inted shall file with the Superintendent of Streets of s~id City a certificate to the effect that said work has been performed in conformity with the requirements of this ordinance and the specifications set forth herein, and shall truly state that the streets and parking has been cleared as provided in this Ordinance". Sec. 2. Thir ordinance shall t-ake effect and be in force 'from and after its passage, approval, and publication, as required by law. The City Clerk shall certify to the passage of this Ordinance and cause the same to be published for three consecutive days in the Evening Indext a newspaper printed, published, and circulated in the City of San Bernardino.
