AN ORDINANCE PROHIBITING mHE OPERATION OF AUTOMOBILES
OR MOTORCYCLES UPON THE PUBLIC STREETS OF THE CITY OF SAlT
BERNARDINO WITHOUT HAVING THE SAME MUFFLED.

6 The :Mayor and Common Council of t:h.e city of San Bernardino
7 do ordain as follows:-
8 Section 1. It is hereby declared unlawful for any person
9 to drive, operate or propel an automobile or motorcycle, or

have charge of any automobile or motoroycle being driven,
operated, or propelled upon any pUblic street or alley within
the city of San Bernardino without having a muffler of
sufficient size attache~ to such automobile or motorcycle

adjusted so as to prevent all unnecessary noise and kept
constantly closed.
Section 2. Any person violating any of the terms of this
ordinance shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor and upon

conviction thereof shall be punished by a fine not exeeeding
one hundred dollars or by imprisonment in the city jail for a
term not exceeding fifty days or by both such fine and imprisoR
ment in the discretion of the Court.
22 Section 3. All ordinances and parts of ordinances in con,
23 fIiet herewith are hereby repealed.
24 Section 4. This ordinance shall take effect and be in
25 force from and after thirty days after its passage and approval
26 Section 5. The City Clerk shall certify to the passage of
27 this ordinance and cause the same to be pUblished for three
