AN QRDINANCE PROVIDING FOR THE PURCHASE OF REAL
ESTATE BY TIrE CITY OFS SAN BERNARDINO.
VmEREAS, the public interest and convenienve of the
City of San Bernardino and the inhabitants thereof demand
and require t~e purchase of that real estate hereinafter
described, for the purpose of developing water thereon,
to be used in connection with the supplying of water to the
said city and the inhabitants thereof, and to be used in
connection therewith, and
WHEREAS, Naomi Stiles is the owner of that certain
property firs~ hereinafter described, and has offered and
'agreed to sell the same to said city for the sum of Twenty
Five Hundred Dollars, and
WHERF.AS, Frank Holmes is the o.wner of that certain
property hereinafter secondly described, and has offered,
and agreed to sell the .same to said city for the sum of Three
Thousan~ Dollars, and
as follows, to-wit:
Lot Six (6) in Block Forty (40) of the Rancho San
Bernardino, as per plat thereof of record in the office of the
County Recorder of San Bernardino County:
for the sum of Twenty-five Hundred Dollars; and that the said
city purchase of Frank Holmes all that certain real property
situated in said county and state, described as follows:

The No~ Een iPd Thirty-seven aundre~ths (10.37)
chains of Lot "ve. (_) in said Block Forty (40) of the
Rancho San Bernardino, as per plat aforesaid,
for the sum of Three Thousand Dollars, and that upon the
going into effect of this ordinance and the execution and
delivery of deeds for the respective properties aforesaid
conveying to said city the said real property clear and free
of all incumbrances of every kind whatsoever, that a warrant
be drawn executed in favor of said Naomi Stiles for the sum
of Twenty Five Hundred DO.Llars, and that a warrant be drawn
executed in favDr of said Frank Holmes for the sum of
Three Thousand DOllars, and that said sums be entered as a
charge against the water fund of said city. Provided, however,
that no money shall be' paid until a certificate of title has
been presented by said parties showing the title thereof to
be free and clear of all incumbrances, and also until the title
to said respective properties has been approved by the City
Attorney.
Section 2. The Mayor of the City of San Bernardino is
hel'eby authorized and directed to accept in the name and on
behalf of said City the deeds for said real.property, and to
have the same duly recorded in the office of the County Re-
corder.
Section 3. This ordinance shall go into effect and be
in force from and after thitty (30) days after its adoption
and approval.
The City Clerk shall certify to the passage and approvql
of this ordinance and cause the same to be published for three
consecutive days in The Evening Index.
