AN ORDINANCE RELATING TO THE USE OF l'lmLIC S'rREETS AND
SIDEWALKS IN THE CITY OF SAN BERNARDINO.

'1'he I'ayor and.'OommOn OouneB..' of the' City of San
Bernardino. do ordain as follows:
Section 1. It shall be unlawful for Flny person. firm,
or corporation to use or make use of the public sidewalks of the
City of San Bernardino, for the display of good$, wares, or
merohandise. or to leave or to permit to remain upon any portion
of the publio streets of the city of San Bernardino. any goods,
wares. merchandise, bexes, barrels, ease,s. packages. trucks, or
&uchother objeots or things as will obstruct or prevent the free
use and passage thereon.
Sect1on".2.Goods, _res, and m.erchandise delivered or
received upon the public sidewalks of said City shall be immediate-
ly taken or removed therefrom by the owner or person in charge
thereof; provided. that goods, wares, or merohandise reoeived
in bulk or packages of such size or weight that the same cannot
be immediately removed. as aforesaid. the owner or person ~n
charge thereof shall remove or cause the same to be removed within
four (4) hours from the time of the delive;ry thereof; and provided,
further, that pending such removal ot such goods. wares~ or
merchandise, the same shall occupy the outer edge or space of the
sidewalk. the inner line of said space shall be parallel with the
curb line and not more than three (3) feet distant therefrom.
Section 3. Nothing in this ordinance shall be construed
so as to prohibit the hanging of signs from any building within

eight (8) feet above the sidewalk.
Section 4. Any person violati, any of the provisions
01.' this ordinance shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor and '~.
upon conviction thereof shall be punished by a fine not exceeding
Twenty-Five Dollars (125.00), or by imprisonment not exceeding
twenty-five (25) days, or by both such fine and imprisonment.
Section 5. All ordinances or parts of ordinanee~
in conflict with this ordinance are hereby repealed.
Section 6. This ordinance shall take effect and be in
force from and after thirty (30) days after its adoption and
ecpprova1.
Section ,. The City Clerk shall certify to the passage
of this ordinance and cause the same to be published for three
consecutive days.in The Evening Index.

adopted and approved by the Mayor and Common Council of the City
