This has resulted in an outstanding relationship with local and international soccer organizations. Specifically with the San Luis R.C. Sonora Mexico soccer league. our Santo Soccer Club has assisted numerous soccer clubs and leagues in field preparation, lighting, etc.. This has not only been benefi- cial to the City in providing recreational programs for the young, but also senior players at no cost to the City. . The Sonora Mexico association has been able through local municipal soccer association to provide two illuminated soccer fields, and they are attempting to illuminate another field for their youth players. They do not charge any money for entry to their games, they rely on sponsors and other type aid that they may receive in developing their fields for their young people. Due to the high temperature level in their area the majority of their youth activity is scheduled for night time. Becau&e of the sporting relationship that has developed between the City of San Bernardino and San Luis R.C. Sonora, Mexico, they have requested our support. The City of San Bernardino because of the recent upgrading of our ballfield lighting has in excess of 60 ballfield lights that are surplus, for which we are in the process of makin~ a list for the use of the City Purchasing Agent for disposal. The resale value of these lights is estimated at less than $5.00 each. It is recommended that 30 of these surplus lights be sold to the San Luis R.C. Sonora Mexico Municipal Soccer Association, at a cost not to exceed $1.00 per fixture If such donation or sale is concurred with, the members of the Sonora Municipal Soccer Association would provide trans- portation for such fixtures. Request approval of the Mayor and Common Council for such action, by the adopting of a resolution 75-0264 (!~ /6'" .., C I T Y 0 F SAN B ERN A R DIN 0 INTEROFFICE MEMORANDUM 8809-220 4. Division, San Luis R.C. Sonora Mexico, requesting the don- ation of approximately 30 ball field lights for their youth soccor field. This organization has had for several years an interaction liason with several local sponsored teams, such as Santo Soccor Club. This has resulted in an outstanding relationship between the City of San Bernardino and San Luis Rio Colorado, Sonora Mexico. The City of San Bernardino, Public Buildings Division has approximately 60 lights surplus in our Building Maintenance Storage area.. And if they would transport such light fixtures at no cost to the City, I wo~ld highly recommend the donation of these fixtures to such a worthy cause. We are presently preparing a list of surplus equipment for the City Purchasing Agent to dispose of in order to provide storage area for more critically needed modern equipment. The resale value of these lights is estimated at less than .$5.00 each. If I can be of further assistance, please advise. Control . .
