View Avenue Finance: Street Council N~tes: 75-0262 Agenda I tern No. .:L 3 CITY OF SAN BERNARDINO - REQUEST FOR COUNCIL ACTION STAFF REPORT Plans for the installation of traffic signals at 40th Street and Mt. View Avenue have been prepared by the Engineering Division. The plans have been reviewed and approved by Caltrans, and the project is ready to be advertised for bids. The project consists of installing traffic signals at 40th Street and Mt. View Avenue, and interconnecting. to the existing traffic signals at Electric Avenue and Sierra Way. Interconnecting these signals will allow vehicles to travel through these intersections with no more than one stop. Listed below is an estimate of the total project cost: Construction Contract $ 95,000 Preliminary Engineering (W.O. #1814) 2,500 Construction Engineering 7,000 Sub-Total $ 104,500 Contingencies (5%):t 5,500 TOTAL ESTIMATED PROJECT COST $ 110,000 Program Supplement No. 51 is also on the Council Agenda of 11-21-88. This supplement will serve to obligate the amount of $112,000 in Federal-Aid Urban Funds to finance 100% of the total project cost. All costs will be charged to Account No. 242-362- 57664. One of our six authorized positions of Construction Inspector is vacant. It may be necessary to defer advertising this project until sufficient staffing is available. We recommend that the plans be approved and authorization granted to advertise for bids, when adequate construction engineering personnel are available. 11-08-88
