The project consists of constructing a 270-square foot storage building addition to the Center for Individuals with Disabilities. Originally, the bid opening was set for 10-20-87. However, no bids were received. The project for construction of a storage building and horseshoe pitching pit was re-advertised, and bids received on 4-26-88. Two bids were received, but had to be rejected since they were not competitive. It was recommended that alternate methods on construction, such as the California Conservation Corps, be used. After reviewing available alternate methods, the Department of Parks and Recreation has concluded that none appear feasible and recommend that the project be readvertised. The horseshoe pitching pit has been deleted, in order to ensure that the allocated funds will be sufficient to cover the costs. Listed below is an estimate of the total project cost, for construction of a 270-square foot storage building. Construction Contract - $ 23,800 Engineering & Inspection (W.O.#1343 & #1470) 3,200 Sub-Total $ 27,000 Contingencies (10%)t 2,700 TOTAL ESTIMATED PROJECT COST $ 29,700 An amount of $20,000 has been allocated, under Account No. 121-544-57557, for the storage building, and $10,000, under Account No. 121-544-57555, for the horseshoe pitching pit. Since the horseshoe pitching pit has been deleted, the total amount available is $30,000. Environmental review was handled by the County, since the project is within their jurisdiction. We recommend that the plans be approved and authorization granted to advertise for bids. 11-08-88 75-0264
