DESCRIPTION) 1st Ward Park Extension Funds,~ F'n.nc.0~~ Aaenda I tern No. 7 Ct.. ., OF SAN BERNARD.,40 - REQUE~~' FOR COUNCIL ACT~JN APPROVAL OF $7,050 FROM 1ST WARD PARK STAFF REPORT EXTENSION FUNDS FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF A 61 CHAIN LINK FENCE FOR NUNEZ PARK. The proposal for funding is to allow for the construction of a 6 foot chain link fence along a portion of the southern border of Nunez Park. The southerly portion of the park is a soccer field used by both youth and adults. The southern side- line of the soccer field is only 25 feet from the edge of 4th Street. Due to this proximity, soccer balls are occasionally kicked into the street with the possi- bility that a player will chase after it without looking for traffic. The construction of approximately 440 feet of chain link fencing through the pro- visions of these funds will provide a safety barrier that will significantly reduce the potential for a serious accident occurring as a result of the high . speed traffic on 4th Street. The fence will also improve the attractiveness of the park. The need for this fence has been reinforced by the City Traffic Engineer. This request has been coordinated with the Council Office.
