DescriPtion) Intercepting Sewer, from California St. & Porter St. to Cajon Blvd. & Devil's Canyon Finance: ';ouncil Notes: APPROVED BY CITY ATTORNEY: 2~ DATE: f2-'7-JJ Ammda Item No. 7 CII.. I OF SAN BERNARDl .0 - REQUl. ~T FOR COUNCIL ACI.. ..ON STAFF REPORT The need for an intercepting sewer to the northwest portion of the City was identified in the sewer study done in 1968. This need was confirmed in the later study done in 1983. An intercepting sewer was installed in Mill Street, from Arrowhead Avenue to Mt. Vernon Avenue, some years ago. This interceptor has a 30-inch stub at "I" Street for the future intercepting sewer to the northwest portion of the City. Funds have been budgeted in the Sewer Line Construction Funds over the past several years for the northwest interceptor. A commercial and residential development has been approved on Cajon Boulevard, just south of Devil's Canyon (Cable) Creek Channel. They will need sewer service in order to comply with City policy that new developments be connected to the City sewer system. The proposed project will connect to the existing IS-inch sewer interceptor in California Street, until such time the northwest interceptor is constructed from Mill Street and "I" Street. Installation of this interceptor is needed to prevent pollution of the water table by the discharge of effluent from septic tanks. Funds have also been allocated to extend the interceptor under Devil's Canyon Channel, and then along Cable Creek Channel to Industrial Parkway. The assessment district to improve Industrial Parkway has recently been expanded to include the installation of a sewer main. We recommend that a finding be made that this project is needed for health and safety reasons. 12-01-88 75-0264 , NTER,,;EPTOR ;iEWE R FROM CALIFORNIA STREET a PORTER STREET TO CAJON BLVD. a CABLE CRK. .,J/ 1&1: ~.
