ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF SAN BERNARDINO ADDING CHAPTER 2.90
TO THE SAN BERNARDINO MUNICIPAL CODE TO PROVIDE FOR NOTICE TO THE
MAYOR OF THE ABSENCE OF A COUNCIL MEMBER.
THE MAYOR AND COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN BERNARDINO
DO ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. Chapter 2.90 is added to the San Bernardino
Municipal Code to read as follows:
"Chapter 2.90
Absence of Council Member
2.90.010 Findings.
The Mayor and Common Council hereby find and declare that
in order to provide for the ability of the City to immediately
respond in case of public emergency, and in order to provide for
ease of communications between those responsible for the welfare
of the people of the City of San Bernardino, it is necessary to
provide that a Council Member shall notify the Mayor in case of
absence from the City.

If at any time a CJuncil Member anticipates that an absence
from the City shall ex~eed twenty-four hours, the Council Member
shall notify the Mayo:, in writing, in advance, of such absence.

of such notice shall be provided to the City Clerk. Such
shall contain the following information:
1. Council Member's destination~
2. Date and time of departure;
3. Anticipated date and time of return~ and
4. Telephone number or numbers where the
Council Member can be reached."
