I received a copy of a memorandum sent to you by Wayne
Overstreet outlining the cost associated with the December
12th Tree Lighting Ceremony at City Hall.
Since you have a concern as regards the worthwhile
expenditure of these funds, let me assure you that all
material costs ($5,176.00) will be paid for by private
contributions from downtown and area business persons.
The intent of this ceremony was to bring attention to the
downtown business core during the Holiday Season and
emphasize the rebirth and continued vitality of the downtown
area. Although this event was not to the scale of San
Antonio's program, the initial effort has been started and
will provide for future efforts to highlight Downtown San
Bernardino. Downtown and area business persons support and
encourage this effort and have contributed to it financially.
I hope this memorandum addresses your concerns in this
matter. In the future, please feel free to give me a call if
you have any concerns related to actions emanating from my
office.

necessary set up for the lighting program which will occur on Friday.

SUBJECT: Re-establish Electrical Contact to Trees on North
Side of City Hall

Per our conversation on Monday, December 1st, I would like to
request that power be brought to the six trees on the upper
terrace and six six trees on the lower terrace, north side of
City Hall, for the purpose of stringing Christmas Tree lights
on the above mentioned trees.
It is my understanding that this can be accomplished by
utilizing existing underground conduit. I would appreciate
this work being completed by December 11th so we may have a
tree lighting ceremony December 12th at 5:00 p.m.
