WHEREAS, the citizens of our community now residing in nursing homes have
contributed immeasurably to San Bernardino's heritage over the years; and
WHEREAS, the residents of our community's nursing homes are themselves living
history. Members of the American Health Care Association are sponsoring many activities in
observance of National Nursing Home Week; and
WHEREAS, nursing home caregivers continue to strive toward new innovations in long
term health care delivery, the goal of nursing home caregivers is to provide the highest quality
care and a dignified quality of life for the elderly, physically and mentally challenged; and
WHEREAS, Hillcrest Care Center has opened the door to the community to share in
celebrating National Nursing Home Week and experience the warm and home-like atmosphere in
the facility.
NOW. THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT I, PATRICK J. MORRIS, MAYOR OF THE CITY
OF SAN BERNARDINO, DO HEREBY PROCLAIM May 14-20, 2006 AS
NATIONAL NURSING HOME WEEK
and urge all members of this community to join in this year's National Nursing Home Week
observance by visiting our town's nursing home residents and by recognizing the high quality of
care our nursing facilities are providing.
