We hope to have a rendition available for your inspection at the meeting. PROPOSED ACTION: Authorize, in principle, the proposal of the More Attractive Community Foundation to design a standardized entrance sign to be located at major entrances to the City. BACKGROUND INFORMATION: The MAC Foundation has been discussing the matter of standard entrance signs for San Bernardino for a number of months. Several designs have been reviewed, and a general concept has been developed. An ultimate design for your review and approval should be forthcoming in the near future. Before proceeding further, we wish to know if the Mayor and Common Council would be receptive to such a program and if the general design concept is acceptable to the City. The first such sign is proposed to be located on Waterman Avenue, just north of the I-I0 Freeway. Actual location would, of course, be subject to the approval of the City. No definite financial details are on paper at this time. These will be developed when the final design is completed. The number of such signs which can ultimately be installed will, of course depend on available funding from the Founda- tion and perhaps from the City.
