1 RESOLUTION NO.
2 RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF SAN BERNARDINO URGING THE STATE
LEGISLATORE TO INVESTIGATE AND ADOPT LEGISLATION RESOLVING THE
3 STATEWIDE PROBLEM OF THE TRANSPORTING OF DOGS IN THE BACK OF OPEN
PICKUP TRUCKS.

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY
5 OF SAN BERNARDINO AS FOLLOWS.

SECTION 1. Rec1tal. nM/m?~
The transporting of ~~-~nsecured in open pickup trucks,
8 could result in serious harm to the dog and/or to motorists
9 if the dog is ejected or jumps from the back of a truck.

SECTION 2. The Mayor and Common Council of the City of San
11 Bernardino urge the State Legislature to investigate and adopt
12 legislation that would require that dogs shall be safely secured
13 when transported in open vehicles and provide that any security
14 device shall safely restrain the dog and prevent it from being
15 ejected or jumping from the vehicle.

SECTION 3. The City Clerk of the City of San Bernardino is
17 directed to forward a copy of this resolution to Assemblymen
18 William Leonard and Jerry Eaves of the State Assembly and
19 Senators H. L. Richardson and Ruben Ayala urging their support of
20 appropriate legislation to resolve such problem, and further that
the City Clerk forward a copy to SANBAG, the County of San
Bernardino and surrounding cities requesting their support of
enactment of such legislation.
