Synopsis of Previous Council action:
1985 An amount of $10,000 allocated to commence necessary preliminary
engineering and right-of-way acguisition.
Report relative to preparation of plans accepted and filed.
Plans approved and authorization granted to advertise for bids.
Bid in the amount of $82,155 rejected, and Director of Public
Works authorized to re-advertise in about 2 months.
Resolution No. 86-379 adopted awarding contract to Redlands Paving.
Inc. for the low bid price of $77,458.75.

Recommended motion:
That Change Order No. One to the contract with Redlands Paving.
Inc., for the widening of Second Street, from Route I-215 to
"G" Street, in accordance with Plan No. 6890, be approved; to
authorize the Contractor to relocate the existing In-N-Out
Burger business sign to a height of 8 feet above the ground.

STAFF REPORT
As part of the contract work, the existing business sign at In-N-Out
Burger was to be relocated due to interference with the street widening improve-
ments. During construction it was discovered that the sign could not be relo-
cated at its existing elevation due to visual interference with an existing
electrical transformer.
In order to relocate the sign to a suitable location and abide by
City codes, the sign should be extended to a height of 8 feet above the existing
ground.
The Contractor has submitted a price of $595.00 for the additional
charges to fabricate a new pole for an 8-foot grade clearance, increasing the
contract price from $77,458.75 to $78,053.75.
We recommend that Change Order No. One be approved.
