Synopsis of Previous Council action:
Approval on November 3, 1986, of allocation of $490,000 ($70,000 per ward), for
resurfacing residential streets throughout the City.
Recommended motion:
That Purchasing be authorized to issue a Purchase Order in the Amount of $15,000
to the County of San Bernardino for resurfacing City portions of five streets
in Ward 7 (Modesto Drive, from 35th Street to Echo Drive; 35th Street, from
Golden Avenue to Ferndale Avenue; 36th Street, from Golden Avenue to Ferndale
Avenue; 37th Street, from Golden Avenue to Ferndale Avenue; Harrison Street,
from Lynwood Avenue to 35th Street) from Account No. 001-402-56407.

STAFF REPORT
The County of San Bernardino has reauested that we participate in the
cost of resurfacing various streets. Approximately ten oercent (10%)
of this is within the corporate limits of the City of San Bernardino.
City portions are marked on attached maps.
The proposed agreement provides, in general, that the County will act
as lead agency, and the resurfacing performed under contract. The City
will reimburse the Coun~v for its proportionate share, estimated at
$15.000.
Funding for the City oortions will be from Ward Account.
Streets listed below are badly in need of rehabilitation. We recommend
the agreement to be aooroved.
1. Modesto Drive, 35th Street to Echo Drive
2. 35th Street, Golden Avenue to Ferndale Avenue
3. 36th Street, Golden Avenue to Ferndale Avenue
4. 37th Street, Golden Avenue to Ferndale Avenue
5. Harrison Steet, Lynwood Avenue to 35th Street

RE: COOPERATIVE STREET RESURFACING PROJECT
Dear Mr. Moreno:
As discussed with you last week, transmitted for your review are Cost
Estimates and location maps covering portions of City streets which have
been proposed for inclusion in the County's Valley resurfacing project.
Improvements will generally consist of a 0.15' asphaltic cap (with tapers to
curbs as appropriate) plus earth shoulder backing as required where no curbs
exist (see attached typical sections).
City's share of the project cost is estimated at $15,000 which includes
engineering and contract administration. Final cost will be determined
based on contract bid items.
If this meets with your approval, it is requested that you provide us
with a purchase order to cover the City's estimated share of the project cost.
