STAFF REPORT
BID SPEC: F-87-10
The proposed contract is for landscape maintenance small area throughout the City.
At the request of the Parks, Recreation and Community Services Department approp-
riate specifications were prepared, published and furnished to area suppliers of
this service. The bid was publicly opened and declared on 10/30/86. The follow-
ing is a summary of bids received.

Ninety-four (94) bidders were solicited. 15 bidders responded to the mandatory job
walk. Six responded to the bid package requirements.
The primary bid specifications of J & R Landscape as bid, has been reviewed with the
Parks, Recreation & Community Services Director, who concurs, that the primary bid of
J & R Landscape meets specifications and requirements.
The intent was to structure. finalize and monitor all the factors involved in a main-
tenance contract of this type. After a learning curve and satisfaction of all factors
involved, a solicitation for a three (3) year formal contract was intended. Parks
prefers a winter to winter contract rather than a contract termination and start-up
during the highest maintenance period.
This first time contract period is
therefore recommended that the bid
was included in the 86/87 budget.
from Dec. 15, 1986 to Dec. 14, 1987. It is
be accepted for contract. The amount of $39,230.00

RESOLUTION OF THE C1TY OF SAN BERNARDINO AWARDING A BID TO J & R
LANDSCAPE FOR THE FURNISHING AND DEL1VERY OF LANDSCAPE MAINTENANCE TO
BE UTILIZED BY THE PARKS, RECREAT10N AND COMMUNITY SERVICES DEPARTMENT
1N ACCORDANCE WITH BID SPECIFICATION F-87-10.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN BER-
NARDINO AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. J & R Landscape is the lowest and best bidder for the
furnishing and delivery of landscape maintenance in accordance with Bid
Specification F-87-10 for the total amount of $35,998.32; pursuant to this
determination, the Purchasing Agent is hereby authorized and directed to
issue a purchase order for said landscape maintenance to said lowest and
best bidder; such award shall only be effective upon the issuance of a
purchase order by the Purchasing Agent; and all other bids therefor are
hereby rejected.
I HEREBY CERT1FY that the foregoing resolution was duly adopted by the
Mayor and Common Council of the City of San Bernardino at a
