I have recently joined the National Education Corporation, headquartered in Irvine, as the Corporate Director of Administration. My new job responsibilities will not permit me to continue to effec- tively serve my community as a Councilman, a position I deep- ly respect and one which has given me much personal satisfac- tion and a deep-rooted sense of accomplishment during the past four years. Although my family and I plan to relocate to Orange County because of this change in employment, our roots and our hearts will always remain in San Bernardino. Thanks to the citizens of San Bernardino for their continued political support and for granting me the privi- lege of a lifetime. Thanks to my wife, Jill, and my sons, Bobby and Brian, for living the past four years with contin- ued support for my work and the work of the Council. Thanks to each and everyone of you for your loyal and dedicated service to the community and your individual and collective support which has made my job both enjoyable and manageable. Thanks to the loyal and dedicated staff members of the City and a very special thanks to the City Council staff who daily perform miracles of public service in numbers dispro- portionately high for a group of five. with sincere appreciation, ~~ STEVE MARKS Councilman, Fourth Ward SM:jv PRIDE IN PRO~RESS
