Synopsis of Previous Council action:
At the February 7, 1986 Council Personnel Committee meeting,
the City Attorney was directed to prepare a resolution providing
for a PERS contribution to the six top managment positions in
the Fire and police Departments.
Recommended motion:
Adopt resolution.

The City Attorney was directed to place this item on the
February 17, 1986 Council agenda.

RESOLUTION NO.
2 RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF SAN BERNARDINO PROVIDING THAT THE
POSITIONS OF FIRE CHIEF, ASSISTANT FIRE CHIEF, POLICE CHIEF,
3 ASSISTANT POLICE CHIEF, AND POLICE CAPTAINS SHALL RECEIVE A 2%
PERS CONTRIBUTION EFFECTIVE WITH THE PAYROLL PERIOD BEGINNING
4 FEBRUARY 17, 1986, AN ADDITIONAL 2.5% PERS CONTRIBUTION BEGINNING
WITH THE PAYROLL PERIOD JULY 7, 1986, AND AN ADDITIONAL 2.5% PERS
5 CONTRIBUTION BEGINNING WITH THE PAYROLL PERIOD JANUARY 5, 1987,
FOR A TOTAL PERS CONTRIBUTION OF 7%.

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
7 SAN BERNARDINO AS FOLLOWS:
8 SECTION 1. Effective with the payroll period beginning
9 February 17, 1986, the City of San Bernardino will make a 2% PERS
10 contribution of the employees' 9% PERS rate for the positions of
11 Fire Chief, Assistant Fire Chief, Police Chief, Assistant Police
12 Chief, and Police Captains.
13 SECTION 2. Effective with the payroll period beginning
14 July 7, 1986, the City of San Bernardino will make an additional
15 2.5% PERS contribution of the employees' 9% PERS rate for the
16 positions of Fire Chief, Assistant Fire Chief, Police Chief,
17 Assistant Police Chief, and Police Captains.
18 SECTION 3. Effective with the payroll period beginning
19 January 5, 1987, the City of San Bernardino will make an
20 additional 2.5% PERS contribution of the employees' 9% PERS rate
21 for the positions of Fire Chief, Assistant Fire Chief, Police
22 Chief, Assistant Police Chief, and Police Captains.
