BID SPEC: F-86-1
The proposed purchase is for One 1500 G.P,M, Fire Pumper, to be utilized in operations
by the Fire Department. At the request of the department, appropriate specifications
were prepared, published and furnished to equipment suppliers. Bids were publicly
opened and declared on January 23, 1986. The following is a summary of bids received,

Reasons offered by bidders who were contacted or returned "NO BID" statements were:
Prior commitments and present shop back log, do not sell equipment specified, do not
build this type of unit, special components not manufacturers standard and one stated,
specifications written to favor one manufacturer.
The department currently has seven Seagrave units in service, which have served the
City's requirement well, with a high level of support by the manufacturer and timely
response to our needs,
Having like manufactured units throughout the Fire Department affords adaptability for
the personnel when responsibility requires rotation of personnel and reduces parts and
special equipment required for fleet maintenance, familiarity throughout the equipment
has considerable benefits to the City,
The 1985-86 Fire Department Budget contains $160,000,00 for this purpose, the bid price
of $152,640.00 will allow acquisition of accessories which are required for operation
of the unit, but are not included in this bid, The total cost is expected to be within
the budgeted amount.
Bid has been reviewed with Chief Gerald Newcombe who concurs that the bid of Seagrave
meets all specifications, it is therefore recommened the unit from Seagrave which meets
all specifications be accepted for purchase.

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND COM~10N COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF

SECTION 1, The Seagrave Fire Apparatus Inc, is the sole
bidder for the furnishing and delivery of one new 1500 G,P,M,

Pumper in accordance with Specification No, F-86-I, at a total cost
of $152,640,00; that such bid is satisfactory and in accordance with

Specification No, F-86-1; pursuant to this determination, the Purchasing

Agent is hereby authorized and directed to issue a purchase order for
I said one new 1500 G,P,M. Fire Pumper to said lowest responsible bidder;

I and such award shall only be effective upon the issuance of a purchase
I order by the Purchasing Agent,
