Thcy are listed in the same order as they appear on the contractor's Change Order Request. 1. Upon exposure of the cxisting wide flange beam, unforseen bolts and web stiffeners were discovered. Portions of the existing web stiffencrs had to be removed and replaced. Holes had to be dri lled in the new steel bars to clear the existing bolts and thus facilitate the installation of the new bar. 2. Upon removal of the half wall at the elevator lobby, a steel angle imbedded in the floor slab was uncovered. Since this angle would have been exposed in the new room, it was necessary to remove it with a cutting torch. 3. When the existing slab was exposed, it was found to be made of structural concrete. It was therefore, concluded to change the new slab from insulating concrete to structural lightweight concrete. The purpose of this change was to be more compatible with the existing materials. Structural lightweight concrete material is more expensive, requires a larger pump and more labor to place and finish. 4. Two telephone outlets were requested by the City. 5. After installation of the gypsum board soffit, it was discovered that the T-Grid cei 1 ing supports at the perimeter would not permit thc acccss doors to the light tubes to be opened. Therefore, six (6) light fixtures were returned for credit and T-Grid ceiling tiles were added at the perimeter. This change allows for easier changing of light tubes. 6. At the City's l"equest, incanclescent down lights were added over the countcr area. 7. To assure propcr matching of old and new work, painting of the cntire Lobby ceiling was added to the contract. The increased duor tbickness made it necessary to increase the lc.ngth of the locksets. This was a custom operation \'Ihich reglJired the lockset to be dismantled in order to have a longer shaft welded into place. 9. To prevent futnre door wal'page and strengthen the large doors, covering the marker board mad~ it necessary to dismcntle the doors and add steel angle stiffeners. Please note the architect has observed a 3/4" gap between the doors and cannot authorize the payment of this item until the doors close together with no gap. 10. No price change authorized. 11. The above changes required sixteen hours of additional supervision at a rate of approximately $31.00 per hour. 12. The cabinet maker was allowed to alter the edge band detail which made it possible to use his edge banding machine. The credit reflects his savings in labor. Overall, we find these costs to be fair and a reasonable reflection of today's construction industry costs. Sincerely, ROGER L.
