RESOLUTION NO.
2 RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF SAN BERNARDINO PROVIDING FOR THE
SUBMISSION OF AN ADVISORY MEASURE RELATING TO THE CITY'S POLICY OF
3 SELLING DOGS AND CATS FOR RESEARCH PURPOSES AT A SPECIAL MUNICIPAL
ELECTION TO BE CONSOLIDATED WITH THE STATEWIDE PRIMARY ELECTION TO
4 BE HELD IN SAID CITY ON JUNE 3, 1986.

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
6 SAN BERNARDINO AS FOLLOWS:
7 SECTION 1. Recitals.
8 A. On January 9, 1986, the Mayor and Common Council
9 conducted a public hearing on the City's policy of selling dogs
10 and cats for research purposes to organizations accredited by the
11 American Association for Accreditation of Laboratory Animal Care.
12 B. At said public hearing, the Mayor and Common Council
13 received testimony in favor and in opposition to the sale of such
14 animals for research.
15 C. The Mayor and Common Council directed that an advisory
16 measure on selling pound animals for research be placed on the
17 ballot in June to allow the voters of the City of San Bernardino
18 to express their opinion on whether the City's policy of selling
19 pound animals for research should be continued.
20 SECTION 2. Submittal of Measure.
2] The following advisory measure shall be submitted to the
22 qualified electors of the City of San Bernardino for their
23 recommendation at the consolidated special municipal and statewide
24 primary election to be held in said City on June 3, 1986:
