"'"""..... - '-' -.../ CITY OF SAN BERNARDINO - REQUEST FOR COUNCIL ACTION STAFF REPORT The traffic interconnect feature, of the Baseline Street Traffic Signal System, is not in working order. Repairs cannot be made, since parts are not available due to the age of the system. Interconnecting traffic signals allows for vehicles to progress with fewer stops. Every time a vehicle is required to stop, an additional amount of pollutants are emitted. Also, every stop creates the potential for a rear-end accident. Modification of those traffic signals to provide for traffic progression will result in less pollutants and fewer opportunities for accidents. We recommend that a finding be made that the modification of these traffic signals is needed for health and safety reasons. 11-23-B7 75-0264
