At the Regular Meeting of the Park and Recreation Commission on November
19, 1987, the Chairperson was directed to write a letter to the Mayor
and Common Council expressing the concerns of the Commissioners relative
to the development of the Patton Park property located east of Arden
at Pacific Street. This letter is to address this issue and to request
that our concerns be made a matter of public record before the Mayor
and Common Council.
Our concern is that this vital open space may be lost to commercial or
other development if the City does not move with dispatch to complete
the development of the property'into a full service park. The dwindlin9
available open space coupled with the rapid residential population
growth in our city points up the need for the City to move quickly to
construct a park on this City owned property.
Therefore, we, the Park and Recreation Commissioners, request that the
Mayor and Common Council support immediate action to complete develop-
ment of Patton Park property north of Pacific and east of Arden into
a community park for the benefit of all the citizens of the City of San
Bernardi no.
This request is respectfully submitted for your consideration and action
as deemed appropriate.
