Recommended motion:
1) That a finding of need for health and safety reasons, for the vacation of that
certain East/Hest alley located South of 10th Street, East of "H" Street, be made.
2) That Plan No. 7339 for the vacation of that certain East/West alley located South
of 10th Street, East of "H" Street, be approved and that the Director of Public
,Iorks/City Engineer and the City Clerk be authorized to proceed.

CITY OF SAN BERNARDINO - REQUEST FOR COUNCIL ACTION
STAFF REPORT
On June 8, 1987 a request was received to vacate that certain East/West alley located
South of 10th Street, East of "H" Street. The request came from the adjoi ni ng property
owner on the South. This request represents 33% of those owners who adjoin the alley.
The peti ti oner has deposi ted the requi red $200.00, whi ch represents one-ha If of the
total fee of $400.00. The remaining $200.00 will be due after the investigative
proceedings.
The petitioner, who owns the property along the entire southern portion of the alley
proposed for vacation stated that the subject alley has become a place for frequent
dumping of trash and abandoned vehicles. Petitioner also stated that access to the
properties on the North side of the alley. would be worked out through a reciprical
agreement, if those owners so desire.
Vacation of the alley would allow adjacent property owners to extend their fences
across the vacated area, thus closing off the alley to public access, and thus
eliminating the above mentioned problems, and would eliminate the need for maintenance
of the alley and clean-up by City forces.
It is therefore recommended that the findings of need for health and safety reason s,
for the vacation of that certai n East/West alley, South of 10th Street and East of
"H" Street, be made, that Plan No. 7339 be approved, and that the Oirector of Publ ic
Works/City Engineer and the City clerk be authorized to proceed.
