CITY OF SAN BERNARDINO - REQUEST FOR COUNCIL ACTION
STAFF REPORT
All work under this contract was satisfactorily completed
as of 10-06-87.
The contract was awarded for the low bid price of
$239,952.60. Contract Change Order No. One increased the contract
price by $15,543.20, to $255,495.80. A portion of Change Order
No One, the construction of a headwall, was performed on a time
and material basis; resulting in a cost reduction of $2,933.62
below the estimated cost.
Additionally, a cost savings of $21,623.00 was obtained
by eliminating import backfill by utilizing suitable on-site dirt,
eliminating a pipe collar to be constructed by adjacent tract
development, basing and paving streets with City crews, and an
underrun on estimated concrete quantities for curb and gutter.
Public Services has estimated their cost for base and
pavement on Citrus and Mirada Streets, at less than $1,000.00.
The actual final contract price is $230,939.18. We
recommend that the work be approved and accepted; and that final
payment be authorized at the expiration of the lien period.
