STAFF REPORT
The International Book Fair, 1987 will be held in Guadalajara, Mexico from
November 28-December 1 to promote Spanish language publications worldwide.
It has been organized by the Government Of The State Of Jalisco and the
University Of Guadalajara to assist librarians expand their holdings of
books in Spanish in order to reach the Hispanic community in their area.
Over 350 exhibition booths will be on hand, 300 of which will be from Mexico
and Latin America. They will include new titles from top publishing houses,
state and local goverment presses, university presses and small publishers
__ rarely seen together under the same roof. In all more than 1,500 pub-
lishing houses will be represented.
The Library has received a $5,000 grant from the California State Library
to supplement the children's books of the Paul Villasenor Library. The
Library's Childrens Services Coordinator Mrs. Cynthia Olsen and the Paul
Villasenor Branch Library Supervisor Mrs. Rina Tamayo have requested an
opportunity to attend with total travel costs not to exceed $590 for both.
The Library Board Of Trustees authorized the expenditure of $290 at their
regular meeting of October 12, 1987, and the Friends Of The San Bernardino
Public Library agreed to pay the other half at their regular meeting of
October 11, 1987.
